El Shaddai Christian Academy was started in 2005 by the current principal, Mrs Rene Payne with 3 teachers and 7 learners. Today in 2013 the school has 130 learners and 14 teachers and continues to grow because of the growing reputation as a place of academic excellence and individual nurturing of children. Oversight is done by the Word of Truth Ministries, who have provided the grounds and classrooms for the school.
The school is very diverse in the composition of its learners. We have black and white in almost equal numbers as do we have ratio of boy to girl. The backgrounds of the children is also very diverse adding to the better understanding of the different experiences all South Africans grow up with.

The South African Schools Act (SASA) of 1996 established a national schooling system and recognised two categories of schools: public and independent. Public schools are state controlled and independent schools are privately governed. All private schools were included into the independent school category.
